Baseball: Ex-Bonita star Jeff Gelalich goes 9 for 13

What a weekend in Georgia for former La Verne Bonita outfielder Jeff Gelalich, a junior at UCLA. He went nine for 13 in leading the Bruins to a three-game sweep of Georgia. Adam Plutko (Glendora) threw a complete game in a 2-0 win on Friday.

Scott Frazier (Upland) and Jon Moscot (Palisades) each pitched complete games for Pepperdine in wins over Rhode Island.

Alex Mejia (El Camino Real) had four hits and Trent Gilbert (Torrance) had three hits in Arizona’s 16-7 win over Eastern Michigan.

Kevin Swick, a sophomore walk-on from Loyola, is batting .396 for USC.

Ryon Healy (Crespi) leads Oregon in hitting with a .352 average. Brando Tessar (Chaminade) threw a four-hit shutout for Oregon on Sunday.
