Football: Orange Lutheran names Chuck Petersen head coach

Chuck Petersen, who spent 17 years as an assistant coach at Air Force, including seven as offensive coordinator, has been named head coach at Orange Lutheran. He replaces Jim Kunau.

Petersen last coached at North Texas.

Orange Lutheran received nearly 100 applications for the position.

Petersen played football at Air Force, graduating in 1985. He coached receivers and quarterbacks as an assistant at Air Force.

‘The football field is a development and leadership laboratory,’ Petersen said in a statement from the school. ‘I take the title ‘coach’ extremely seriously. Our mission at Orange Lutheran through our coaching influence is to help each player maximize his spiritual, mental and physical potential.’

Petersen’s wife, Roya, will teach French at Orange Lutheran. He has a son and daughter who will soon become Orange Lutheran students.
