Forgive me for getting a little excited about a single game at this weekend’s state basketball championships in Sacramento, but you need to go to a computer, click socal101tv.com/prepsports and watch the Division IV championship game between Los Angeles Price (26-8) and Richmond Salesian (33-2). It’s going to be both entertaining and memorable.

These two schools are loaded with talent. Salesian obliterated its outmanned competition in Northern California, winning state playoff games by 36, 39 and 31 points. The team has 6-foot-5 Jabari Bird, one of the most exciting juniors in California. He makes any dunk look great.

But here’s where Price has an advantage. While Salesian has been cruising to victory for the past month, Price has been facing the likes of Gardena Serra and La Verne Lutheran. The Knights should be ready for anything, but it will be up to guards Chris Martin, Chance Murray and Trey Dickerson to handle the setting of Power Balance Pavilion. It’s not easy to shoot there, and they’re going to have to come through for a victory.

Price is seeking its seventh state championship, and if it happens, this will be one of the best, because Salesian presents a tough challenge. Game time is 1:30 p.m. on Firday. I wouldn’t miss this one for anything.
