Baseball: Chatsworth rallies for 7-5 win over El Camino Real

Once again, Chatsworth had a horrible start in its West Valley League game against El Camino Real, falling behind by scores of 3-0 and 5-2.

Then the Chancellors woke up and rallied for a 7-5 victory. Scott Voets broke a 5-5 tie in the sixth with an RBI double and Ricky Obando added an RBI single. Jason Karkenny, who gave up four runs in the first inning on Wednesday, pitched two scoreless innings of relief to get the victory.

Chatsworth is 16-3-1 and 3-1. El Camino Real is 11-11 and 2-2. Obando had two hits. Chris Nicholson had two doubles for El Camino Real.

Cleveland got its first league victory with a 6-4 win over Taft. Andrew Devian had three hits and Peyton Long struck out 10 while throwing 5 2/3 scoreless innings.

Steven Rodriguez pitched first-place Birmingham past Granada Hills, 3-1. He struck out 12 in a complete-game performance. The Patriots are 4-0 in league going into next week’s two-game showdown against Chatsworth.
