Baseball: Bonita is 20-1 after beating Palm Desert

La Verne Bonita keeps on winning, improving to 20-1 overall after a 3-1 win over Palm Desert, which is ranked No. 1 in Southern Section Division 4.

Alec Garcia threw five strong innings and Parket Merritt got the save. Justin Row hit his third home run of the season and Anthony Gonzalez contributed a two-run single. Bonita, ranked No. 1 in Division 3, has won 16 consecutive games.

Chatsworth defeated Rio Mesa, 10-0, in six innings. Nick Milone struck out seven in four innings. Ricky Obando had two hits and an RBI.

San Fernando defeated Venice, 8-6. Simi Valley defeated Birmingham, 2-1. Reece Schmidt and Austin Fields had two hits apiece. Alemany defeated Westlake, 6-1. Peter Van Gansen had a home run and double and three RBIs.

JSerra played its third extra-inning game this week and pulled out a 10-7 win over Riverside Poly in nine innings. JSerra had to play 10-inning games on Wednesday and Friday against Servite. Tanner Bily had two hits and four RBIs. Trey Ferketic had three hits. In the second game, Poly came back from a 7-1 deficit to win, 8-7.

Fountain Valley defeated Beckman, 7-4, in the championship game of the Beach Pit Classic. Jordan Lucio had three hits.

Agoura defeated L.A. Roosevelt, 5-4. Kyle London picked up the save. Sylmar defeated Sun Valley Poly, 14-3. Leo Padron went three for four. Mike Munoz had three hits and three RBIs.

Cypress defeated Oaks Christian, 7-4. Phil Bickford took the loss. Stephen Lohr had three hits and Kevin Lillicrop had a two-run double.Loyola defeated La Mirada, 5-2. Jack Barnett had three hits in Palisades’ 6-4 win over South Torrance.

St. Bonaventure Coach Raul Camacho got his 200th coaching win with an 8-0 victory over Mission Prep. Danny Thomas had a perfect game into the sixth inning. Mira Costa defeated Crespi, 2-1, in eight innings. Santa Barbara defeated Verdugo Hills, 5-0, behind Tanner Guerra, who threw a five-hitter.
