Baseball: Chasen Ford is 10-0 after throwing two-hitter for El Toro

El Toro is armed and ready for the Southern Section Division 1 playoffs, particularly junior pitcher Chasen Ford.

He closed out the regular season on Thursday by throwing a two-hitter to beat Tesoro, 4-0. He improved to 10-0, striking out six and walking none. El Toro won the South Coast League title and is 24-6 overall.

In the Pacific View League, Oxnard (19-7, 11-4) gained a share of the league title after beating Channel Island, 4-0. Nick Amerio picked up his seventh win, allowing three hits in six innings. Matt Contreras went two for two with two RBIs. Camarillo lost to Oxnard Pacifica, 7-0, to finish in a tie for first but gets the league’s top playoff seed.

Garden Grove Pacifica won the Empire League championship with a 2-1 win over Cypress. Mission Viejo won the Sea View League title with a 5-3 win over Trabuco Hills.

In the Baseline League, Glendora and Alta Loma finished as co-champions after both losing finales. Glendora lost to Etiwanda, 4-3. Alta Loma lost to Upland, 7-5.

It was not a good week for Century League champion Esperanza, which dropped its second game this week, falling to El Modena, 8-4, despite three hits from Nick Catalano.

In the Trinity League, Mater Dei defeated Servite, 6-4. Ty Moore had an RBI triple and freshman Brandon Perez had an RBI single. Mater Dei finished 21-5 and 13-2. Orange Lutheran defeated JSerra, 4-3, to finish as Trinity champs.

In the Pacific Coast League, Beckman defeated Irvine, 5-0. James Kaprielian threw four shutout innings.

Sean Adler struck out 12 in Sierra Canyon’s 6-1 win over Chadwick.

In the Tri-Valley League, Malibu claimed a playoff berth with a 1-0 win over Carpinteria. Brentwood defeated Windward, 9-3. Palm Desert finished 12-0 in league after a 7-1 win over La Quinta. Brody Kato had three hits.
