Baseball: A Casey Burrill-Andy Wise reunion

In the early 1990s, Andy Wise was a relief pitcher at Long Beach State playing for Dave Snow. Casey Burrill was a catcher at USC playing for Mike Gillespie.

Now the two will have a reunion on Tuesday at Blair Field in Long Beach, because Wise, 40, is the coach at Corona and Burrill, 41, is the coach at Valencia West Ranch. Their teams will be meeting in the Southern Section Division 1 semifinals at 4 p.m.

Asked if the two might have an exhibition before the game, Burrill said, ‘There’s a 100% chance he’d strike me out.’

Wise is thrilled to be returning to his college home field.
