Baseball: Corona 2, West Ranch 1

Corona has taken a 2-1 lead over West Ranch after six innings of the Southern Section Division 1 semifinal at Blair Field.

An RBI double by Matt Majher in the fifth inning scored freshman John Gonzalez from first base. Gonzalez has had two singles on the day.

Pitcher Daniel Pena of Corona has allowed four hits in six innings.

In Division 3, Alhambra upset defending champion Beckman, 6-4. Alhambra hadn’t been to a semifinal since 1948. Bonita defeated Gahr, 3-0. It will be Alhambra vs. Bonita on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Dodger Stadium.
