After traveling 3,590 miles over the last nine days and playing 15 games in Arizona, Utah, Nevada and Washington, the Santa Maria St. Joseph boys’ basketball team returned home Sunday at 11 a.m.

The team went 9-6 after concluding play at the University of Washington team camp.

Case Bruton, a 6-foot-3 senior, averaged 17 points during St. Joseph’s summer tour, with 6-7 junior Keith Datu also playing well.

‘We started and finished really strong,’ said Coach Tom Mott, who’s also serving as the van driver.

The players get to spend a little time at home before departing for the California team camp in Berkeley on Friday.

Mott might qualify to be a driver for Greyhound after all the trips this summer.
