Baseball: Arroyo Seco stays alive at Palomino World Series

Arroyo Seco defeated Puerto Rico, 7-1, on Friday to stay alive in the Palomino World Series at the Urban Youth Academy in Compton.

Crescenta Valley graduate Elliot Surrey pitched well and St. Francis grad David Olmedo-Barrera had a two-run double.

On Saturday, Arroyo Seco defeated Central Michigan, 5-4, to advance to a 7 p.m. rematch against Taiwan. Tei Vanderford and Olmedo-Barrera each had three hits and Josh Clark had two hits. Troy Prasertsit had the game-winning hit.

On Saturday night, Arroyo Seco was eliminated from the tournament after losing for the second time to Taiwan, 10-0. Compton will face Taiwan in Monday night’s championship game.
