Encino Crespi opens the season on the road in Tucson, Ariz., on Saturday night against Salpointe Catholic, one of the top teams in the state.

Salpointe has a junior receiver in Cameron Denson with offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Arizona. Of course, one of the Celts’ strengths is at defensive back, where Tyler Foreman and Brandon Arnold have their own scholarship offers.

The key for Crespi is balance on offense. The Celts have struggled trying to run the ball effectively in the last two years, so sophomore running back Okalani Langi will be counted on to end the running woes.

Crespi players are flying from Burbank on Saturday morning to Tucson. A truck carrying equipment left Encino on Friday.

Kickoff is 7 p.m.
