Good luck to Woodland Hills El Camino Real basketball opponents this coming season. At least one player is going to have to deal with being guarded by 6-foot-3 junior Evan Wardlow, and it’s not going to be pleasant.

Wardlow, who has good grades and has basketball smarts, is going to make himself known as a defensive stopper. A sneak peek could be seen on Saturday morning, when his defense in the final minute helped El Camino Real pull out a victory over Crescenta Valley.

On a team loaded with talent, Wardlow is one of the most underrated Conquistadores. Not only is he the team’s best defender, but he can make shots in the clutch. He also has a body that’s still filling out, with long arms.

So beware City Section foes. Prepare for the Wardlow defensive stop.
