There’s been lots of turmoil with the South East football program during the month of September after the firing of Coach Derwin Henderson and the suspension of 10 players over an alleged hazing incident.

But two standout players have kept the Jaguars (5-1) rolling. They are senior quarterback Jonathan Santos and junior linebacker Daniel Belton.

Santos has passed for 1,179 yards and 18 touchdowns. Belton is averaging 17 tackles a game. Both were All-City selections last season when South East won the City Section Division II championship (the title has since been vacated).

With its victory over Garfield on Friday, South East is in position to win the Eastern League if it can get past Roosevelt on Friday at Roosevelt.
