Soon after his team’s 35-0 victory over Brentwood on Friday, Lancaster Paraclete Coach Norm Dahlia got into his Chevy truck with Principal John Anson and embarked on a midnight road trip to Boise, Idaho, to see two of his former players facing off in the Boise State-UNLV game on Saturday.

It took about 15 hours and 772 miles, but they made it to watch Darian Thompson (Boise State) play against Kenny Brown (UNLV).

‘Like a proud father, I relish the opportunities to see, hear or read how my former players are doing,’ Dahlia said.

Boise State won, 32-7. Thompson had an interception. Brown had six tackles. Afterward, there was a reunion.

Dahlia left early Sunday morning for the drive back to Lancaster. He was driving through Oregon at about 11:30 a.m.

In another week, Paraclete (7-1) will have a showdown game against Sierra Canyon (8-0) for the Alpha League championship.
