Los Angeles Jefferson started the year 0-3, but the Democrats have won five consecutive games behind running back Marcus Stamps and will play Fremont on Friday night for the Southern League championship at Angelou High School.

Stamps, who is committed to San Diego State, has scored 15 touchdowns and is nearing 1,000 yards rushing. He has become a role model for everyone at Jefferson, compiling a 3.8 grade-point average while overcoming obstacles off the field.

He’s the reason coaches coach.

Jefferson uses a wing-T offense. Fremont also is 5-3 and 3-0 in league.

Stamps and Jefferson Coach David Wiltz will appear on the SoCal Prep Report on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. on LA36.
