It’s no longer a question whether Sarah Baxter of Simi Valley will win a cross-country race. The only question is what record she will set.

On Saturday at the CIF state championships in Fresno, Baxter set a Woodward Park course record, winning the Division I race over 3.1 miles in 16 minutes, 40 seconds. The old record was 16:43 set in 1996 by Julia Stamps.

Earlier this month, Baxter set a course record at Mount San Antonio College, winning in 16:00. It was the third consecutive state championship for Baxter, a junior.

Temecula Great Oak won the Division I girls’ title.
