Boys’ basketball: Isaac Hamilton scores 43 points for St. John Bosco

It took a 43-point performance by Isaac Hamilton to enable Bellflower St. John Bosco to hold off Ocean View, 89-87, in a Southern Section 3A semifinal on Friday.

The Braves will play Chaminade in the championship game. Chaminade defeated Oak Park, 76-59. Jaron Martin scored 24 points and had eight assists.

In 3AA, Damien advanced to the final against Santa Margarita after a 61-53 victory over Corona del Mar. Jeremy Hemsley scored 25 points and had seven assists.

In 4A, Brentwood advanced to the final with a 54-46 win over Santa Maria St. Joseph. Tra Holder scored 14 points, Leland King 13 and Yonathan Napoleon 12. Pacific Hills defeated Cantwell-Sacred Heart, 52-51, setting up an all-Alpha League championship game. Jonathon Mills made two free throws with 1.9 seconds left. He scored nine of Pacific Hills’ 13 points in the fourth quarter. Jahmel Taylor had 21 points.

In 5AA, Buckley upset top-seeded Village Christian, 55-52. Tyler Coppin-Carter scored 22 points. Mission Prep defeated Flintridge Prep, 60-58.
