Boys’ basketball: Mater Dei leads 27-23 at halftime

After trailing for most of the first two quarters, Mater Dei has rallied to take a 27-23 lead over Inglewood at intermission of tonight’s Southern Section Division 1AA semifinal in Santa Ana.

Stanley Johnson scored 13 of his 15 points in the second quarter for the top-seeded Monarchs, who were held to eight points in the first quarter. Randy Onwuasor leads Inglewood with seven points.

In the other 1AA semifinal, Etiwanda has a 30-27 halftime lead over host Long Beach Poly.
