Boys’ basketball: Jordan Mathews scores 41 points in Santa Monica’s OT win

Jordan Mathews scored 41 points to help Santa Monica knock off Westside rival Palisades, 76-63, in overtime on Saturday night in a CIF Southern California Division I second-round playoff game.

Chris Smith’s free throw with 4.2 seconds left in regulation allowed Santa Monica to tie Palisades, 62-62. Then Smith scored three baskets in overtime to help ignite the Vikings, who will play San Diego Mission Hills in the semifinals. Smith finished with 15 points.

Ammar Rehman led Palisades with 22 points.

Crenshaw upset Rancho Verde, 61-59, on a three-pointer by Micah Winn with two seconds left. He finished with 20 points and Andre Edwards had 19 points.

Loyola rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to defeat El Toro, 81-70. Parker Jackson-Cartwright had 25 points.

In Division II, Redondo defeated Thousand Oaks, 63-56, in overtime. Ian Fox scored 21 points. Westlake defeated La Costa Canyon, 66-64. Marcos Soto and Joshua Brooks had 17 points apiece and Larry Bush 16. Royal defeated Bakersfield Independence, 60-52. Nick Creber scored 13 points and had 11 rebounds.

In Division III, Chaminade defeated Damien, 69-58. Justin Eisen scored 16 points.

In Division IV, Army-Navy defeated Crespi, 77-71. London Perrantes had 26 points.
