Track: Long Beach Poly’s Vincent Calhoun soars in the high jump

No one in the state is soaring higher in the high jump than Long Beach Poly junior Vincent Calhoun, who won the high jump title at the Trabuco Hills Invitational on Saturday with a mark of 6-9. He has the state’s best mark of 6-10 this season.

Gardena Serra’s Lloyd Siscard won the 110 highs in 14.42 and the 300 hurdles in 38.15. UCLA-bound football player Darren Andrews of Bishop Amat won the 100 in 10.73.

At the L.A. County championships, Harvard-Westlake’s Ben Gaylord won the pole vault with a mark of 15-3. Harvard-Westlake’s Lizzy Thomas won the 800 and 1,600 in girls’ competition.

The Arcadia Invitational is set for Friday and Saturday at Arcadia High.
