It’s tough enough to try to hit Phil Bickford of Oaks Christian in daylight. It’s even harder under the lights. On Saturday night in the championship game of the Redondo tournament, Bickford had a no-hitter for five innings against La Verne Bonita.

He finished with a two-hitter, striking out 15 in Oaks Christian’s 4-1 victory.

It was a battle between two teams ranked No. 1 in their respective divisions in the Southern Section. Bonita (21-3-1) is No. 1 in Division 3 and had won 10 in a row. Oaks Christian (20-3-1) is No. 1 in Division 4.

Chris Davis had two hits and two RBIs. Nate Palace had two hits, including an RBI double in the sixth.

Bickford walked two and improved to 8-1 on the season.
