China Suffering From a Shortage of . . . Laundries?
Believe it or not, there is a shortage of laundries in China, and sometimes customers have to wait more than two months for their wash to be returned.
“As the capital of the country and with a population of nearly 10 million, Peking has only 85 laundry and dyeing shops,” the Workers Daily newspaper said Monday.
“The shortage of laundries brings a long wait for the return of clean washing. It can take as long as one or two months, and sometimes the delay is even longer.”
With the improvement in living standards in recent years, Workers Daily said, an increasing number of Chinese are wearing clothes that cannot be washed at home, such as high-quality wool suits.
“One major reason for the backwardness of this service in China is the traditional prejudice against the service trade,” the newspaper said.
