Countywide : $4.66 Billion in Taxable Sales Posted for Quarter

Orange County recorded $4.66 billion in taxable sales in the third quarter of 1984, according to figures just released by the State Board of Equalization.

That was second only to Los Angeles County, with $l4.6 billion.

Statewide, sales increased $5.4 billion, or 12.5% over 1983. Ernest J. Dronenburg Jr., chairman of the Board of Equalization said statewide sales reached $48.8 billion.

Anaheim, the largest of the county’s 26 cities, led with $631.9 million in total taxable transactions, followed by Santa Ana with $490.2 million and Costa Mesa with $364 million.

Orange was fourth with $299.6 million, followed by Huntington Beach and Irvine. Garden Grove was the only other Orange County city with more than $200 million in taxable sales.

Villa Park, the county’s smallest incorporated city, registered the lowest dollar figure of taxable sales with $3.1 million.
