Phone rates between Hawaii and the mainland were cut.
American Telephone & Telegraph Corp. said the rate for the first minute of a long-distance call to or from Hawaii will remain the same for most areas, but the rate for additional minutes has been lowered 2 cents for all calls that span more than 3,000 miles. AT&T; said the change is among other steps included in an agreement, approved by the Federal Communications Commission, negotiated with Hawaiian Telephone in 1981.
