The Lemon Grove man charged with murder in the Dec. 28 slaying of a Jacumba campground security guard pleaded innocent Wednesday in San Diego Municipal Court. Jerry Joseph Dixon, 23, a former resident of the Thousand Trails trailer park in Jacumba, was ordered held on $750,000 bail in the slaying of Cynthia Ann Bernard, 25, whose body was found in a reception area at the campground. The San Diego County coroner’s office said Wednesday that Bernard died of massive skull fractures. Judge Richard Hanscom ordered Dixon to return to court Jan. 15 for a preliminary hearing. According to court records, Dixon was convicted of forcible sodomy in 1982 and served a prison term.
