Garden Grove : Senior Citizen Kosher Kitchen Rescued From Financial Peril

Share

Orange County’s only kosher kitchen in a senior citizens center has become part of the Garden Grove Senior Meals and Services Program, thanks to a unanimous City Council vote last week to rescue the financially strapped cookery.

The Meals and Services program will provide food to the Jewish Senior Center at 12181 Buaro St., where a kosher chef will prepare lunch following the strict dietary guidelines.

The program is funded by the federal Older Americans Act, which channels funds through the county’s Area Agency on Aging.

For those elderly residents who cannot come to a center, the City of Garden Grove--with the help of volunteer workers--provides home-delivered meals in many cities.

The kosher kitchen at the Jewish Senior Center was previously funded by the Orange County Jewish Federation, which ran into financial problems.
