Jamboree Towers Rise on Schedule : Irvine Co.’s Twin Office Buildings Slated for November Completion

The $35-million, Phase 1 construction on the Irvine Co.’s Jamboree Center is on schedule, with completion scheduled in November.

The initial phase consists of two 12-story office buildings with a four-level parking structure for each. The project will occupy eight acres at Jamboree Boulevard and Main Street in Irvine. About 420,000 square feet of the 450,000 gross square feet will be leasable floor space.

Langdon Wilson Mumper Architects of Newport Beach, designer of the project, reports that the steel structure has been completed to the top of both buildings. Grading for the parking structures also has been completed.

“By combining the present technology of the building management system with a somewhat traditional styling of the past, we have designed a structure that will be a distinctive and functional contribution to Orange County,” said Ernie Wilson, partner-in-charge of the architectural firm.

Energy conservation and security, fire and life safety systems have been incorporated in the building management system, Wilson said. He added that the exterior solar-cooled bronze glass will also be used as an energy conservation feature.

Use of a variety of textures and colors is designed to portray a feeling of warmth.

“Travertine was selected for the exterior finish to provide permanent color and texture, “Wilson said. “We also included an exterior colonnade to give the buildings a perceptible human scale.”

Office space will be leased to a wide range of service companies, including attorneys and accountants, Irvine Co. officials said.

Contractor for the project is Equidon, Irvine. Landscaping architect is POD, Santa Ana. Other members of the project team are James A. Knowles & Associates, Los Angeles, mechanical engineers; Brandow & Johnston, Newport Beach, structural engineers, and Pascoe Engineering Co., Irvine, electrical engineers.
