Help Asked in Search for Missing Man

Share

Beverly Hills police are seeking public assistance in their search for a 31-year-old resident of West Germany who has not been seen since a few days after he checked into the Beverly Wilshire on Oct. 26.

Helmut Ernest Altmann, who is described as 6 feet 2 inches, weighing 180 pounds with thinning brown hair and green eyes, was allegedly interested in investing in real estate in Southern California, police said. He was expected to return to his Munich home on Nov. 2, his wife told Beverly Hills police.

Detectives investigating the disappearance found all his property--clothes, passport and return tickets--still in his hotel room. It is thought he may have traveled to the Big Sur area, police said. Altmann rented a Budget rental car described as a 1984 white Chevrolet Camaro, license plate 1JDK196, which is still missing.
