‘What a Gift’

The last sentence in Armand Hammer’s article (Editorial Pages, Dec. 27) on a U.S.-Soviet summit says: “What a gift that would be to the people of this Earth who have lived too long with an insecure feeling about the future.”
I don’t know how much influence Hammer really has in international diplomacy. But there is one area where his word could make a great impact, namely if he would put a halt on his attempts at oil drilling in the Pacific Palisades area. What a gift this would be to the people of this city who have lived too long with an insecure feeling about the future.
