The Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant was shut down for two weeks of inspection and maintenance after successfully completing testing at the 50% power level, a spokesman said. The shutdown, which was called routine, followed a successful “load rejection” test designed to measure the plant’s response to a sudden drop in the power output in the main electrical generator, said Dick Davin, spokesman for the plant owner, Pacific Gas & Electric Co.
