Palisades Oil Drilling OKd
The Los Angeles City Council voted 10 to 4 today to grant permission for Occidental Petroleum Corp. to drill for oil in the Pacific Palisades.
The issue now lands squarely in the lap of Mayor Tom Bradley, who must decide whether to veto the measure, as he did the last time the matter came up in 1978. He has given no indication what he will do this time. Homeowner groups in the area have been battling the proposal for almost 20 years.
