The International Typographical Union, turning aside a bid by the Teamsters Union, has reached a tentative agreement to merge with the Graphic Communications International union, a spokesman for the AFL-CIO confirmed. The 75,000-member ITU and the graphics workers have an agreement in principle but still must work out some legal and pension details, a spokesman for the AFL-CIO said. In 1983, the Teamsters invited the ITU to become a separate division in the Teamsters.
