Local News in Brief : Jones Elected Chairman of Ventura County Supervisors
Edwin A. Jones, the Ventura County supervisor representing Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and part of Camarillo, was elected chairman of the Board of Supervisors Tuesday.
Jones, 54, was elected on a 5-0 vote. He has been a board member for 10 years and was chairman once before, in 1978. The chairman serves one year.
Jones said his goals include providing sewer service to residents of the Ventu Park area, holding a night meeting of the board in Thousand Oaks and opening a fire station in Oak Park. He also wants to replace a 30-year-old animal shelter at Camarillo Airport, and build a new East Valley sheriff’s station that might include an academy and superior and municipal courts.
