A Garden Grove woman was arrested early Thursday for allegedly stabbing her husband in the back following a domestic fight at their home, police said.

Patricia Webb, 29, was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail, said Sgt. Bruce Beauchamp, a Garden Grove police spokesman.

Her husband, 27-year-old Fred Monroe Webb, was treated at UCI Medical Center for an 8-inch-deep stab wound to his lower back and later released, Beauchamp said. He said the couple had been arguing intermittently as they prepared to separate, and the fight that led to the stabbing began when the woman became angry when her husband wanted to fix himself a late-night snack.

Patricia Webb first summoned police to the couple’s home at 12601 Glen St. about 1 a.m., when she reported they were fighting, according to Beauchamp. However, she hung up before officers could take a report.

Police phoned the home unsuccessfully. Then, because the report had come on the 911 emergency number, which logs the address from which the call is made, officers went to the house.

Patricia Webb assured officers that everything was all right, Beauchamp said, but moments later police received a report from Fred Webb’s mother that her son had arrived at her nearby home with a stab wound.
