Man, 67, Dies in Trailer Fire at Stanton Salvage Company
A 67-year-old man died Friday morning in a fire that destroyed his home--a two-wheel trailer on the site of a Stanton salvage yard where he had worked for eight years as a night watchman.
According to the county coroner’s office, an autopsy indicated that the badly burned victim, Robert Woodrow Lotts, died of smoke inhalation. He was declared dead at the scene.
Cause of the 6:30 a.m. fire is under investigation. A police officer reported seeing a smoky, smoldering blaze and then hearing a small explosion before the trailer was engulfed in flames.
The fire, at Admore Auto Dismantlers on Katella Avenue, was contained by firefighters within 10 minutes.
