Beavers Will Seat Massman, Hear Robinson

John Robinson, coach of the Los Angeles Rams football team and former head football coach at USC, will be the featured speaker Thursday at the 30th annual Awards Dinner of the Beavers, the Long Beach-based heavy construction trade association, at the Century Plaza Hotel.

During the dinner, four construction industry executives will be honored with Golden Beaver Awards, and H. J. (Bud) Massman III, president and chief executive officer of Massman Construction Co. of Kansas City, will assume leadership of the 850-member group, succeeding Richard H. Roberts.

Honorees and their awards will include George T. McCoy, chairman and chief executive officer of Guy F. Atkinson Co., South San Francisco, the Management Award; John W. (Jack) Leonard, vice president and chief engineer of the Morrison-Knudsen Co., Boise, Idaho, the Engineering Award; Gary W. Tackett, project manager for Peter Kiewit Sons’ Inc., Omaha, Neb., the Supervision Award, and George M. Cox, senior partner of Cox, Castle & Nicholson, lawyers, Los Angeles, the Service-Supply Award.

The Beavers, a socially oriented association, was formed in 1955. Its members are involved in public works-type projects throughout the world.
