Swiss Doctor on Trial in 21 Patients’ Deaths

LUGANO, Switzerland —
A Swiss doctor from a private clinic in Castognola went on trial Monday charged with the manslaughter of 21 of his patients in 1981 and 1982.
Antonio de Marchi, head physician of the Montebello Clinic, and three of his employees are accused of giving wrong diagnoses,mistaken treatments, incorrect drugs and drugs in wrong dosages. All four defendants were charged with manslaughter and endangering the life and health of patients.
