Local News in Brief : Burbank Appoints 2 to Planning Board
The Burbank City Council appointed two new members to the five-member Burbank Planning Board late Tuesday night, filling vacancies created last month when the board’s chairman and vice-chairman resigned to run for City Council.
George Battey Jr., 58, president of an engineering firm, and Cameron Thornton, 30, a financial planner, were chosen from a field of nine candidates. Both Battey and Thornton, active in community affairs, were also nominated last September for a vacant City Council seat that eventually was filled by Robert R. Bowne.
