HARARE, Zimbabwe —
A peasant woman was struck dead by lightning as she worked in a field, but the 6-month-old baby strapped to her back was unhurt, police reported Saturday. She was the 100th person reported killed or injured by lightning since the rainy season began two months ago, ending three years of drought.
Esinara Desel died on a farm near Bindura, 40 miles northeast of Harare on Thursday, police said.
