Attack Nuclear Submarine Augusta Is Commissioned

KITTERY, Me. —
The Augusta, the newest of the Navy’s Los Angeles-class attack nuclear submarines, was commissioned Saturday in a ceremony at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as two dozen anti-war protesters marched outside.
The submarine, named for Maine’s capital and launched a year ago, will be based in Groton, Conn.
