A Los Angeles police detective was found guilty by the Police Department Board of Rights of 11 counts of misconduct for using a city computer to obtain information from other government agencies for his two private security firms. A police spokesman said the board recommended that detective John Vach, 37, be suspended for six months. Police Chief Daryl F. Gates will review the recommendation next week, the spokesman said. Vach had earlier pleaded guilty in Municipal Court to a misdemeanor charge of obtaining the criminal history of an individual from the state Department of Justice, then furnishing the information to a client of one of the two security firms he operated in his off-duty time. He was placed on probation for one year and ordered to pay a fine of $1,000 or serve 32 days in jail.
