San Diego St. Women Defeat UCLA, 77-68

All-American Tina Hutchinson scored 28 points, including 16 in the second half, and Toni Wallace came off the bench to spark an 8-0 surge by San Diego State as the Lady Aztecs defeated UCLA, 77-68, in a Western Collegiate Athletic Assn. women’s basketball game Saturday night at San Diego.

Hutchinson, a sophomore forward who is still recovering from knee surgery in December, hit 13 of 22 shots from the field and also had six steals. UCLA got only 22 points from its starting front line, 20 of those by Jackie Joyner, who also had a game-high 15 rebounds.

San Diego State, ranked 13th in the nation, is now 3-1 in the WCAA and 14-4 overall while UCLA fell to 0-2 and 9-6.
