About 13,000 lawyers are expected to boycott courts to press for acceptance of their demands that martial law be lifted and a national interim government formed, a spokesman said Sunday.

Lawyers held a noon rally at the Supreme Court Bar Assn. headquarters to urge that their demands be accepted by the military government.

A spokesman for the coordination council of Bangladesh’s 76 bar associations estimated that nearly 13,000 lawyers, including members of the Supreme Court group, will take part in the boycott.
