Steve Edwards of TV Hurt in Freak Traffic Accident

Television performer Steve Edwards suffered minor facial injuries in a freak traffic accident near his Encino home Monday when a plank of wood fell off a pickup truck and crashed through the window of his car, police said.
A spokesman for UCLA Medical Center, where the television personality was treated, said a plastic surgeon was called in to stitch up a cut near Edwards’ lip.
ABC spokeswoman Gaylynn Monroe said Edwards will not participate this week in the live taping of either of his popular weekday shows--”A.M. Los Angeles” or “3-3-0”--but would return as soon as the swelling in his face goes down. She said Edwards’ appearances on his weekend television show, “Hollywood Close-Up,” would not be interrupted because the series is taped in advance.
