Television feature show host Steve Edwards suffered minor facial injuries in a freak traffic accident near his Encino home when a plank of wood from a pick-up truck crashed through the side window of his car. The accident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Royal Oak Road and Sepulveda Boulevard when a pick-up truck stopped suddenly, catapulting two planks of wood into Edward’s Mustang convertible, police said. A spokesman at UCLA Medical Center said Edwards’ lip was cut and required stitches. ABC spokeswoman Gaylynn Monroe said Edwards would not appear during the live taping of either of his popular weekday shows--”A.M. Los Angeles” and “3-3-0”--this week but would return as soon as the swelling in his face goes down.
