Del Mar
Lawrence Jones has been selected as the new chief of the Del Mar Fire Department. Jones, 55, replaces Fire Chief William Tripp, who officially retires Feb. 1. Jones has been interim fire chief since July, 1983, when Tripp went on disability leave. Jones has been with the department 22 years.
