Indiana Republican Says Recount Favors Him for House Seat
Richard McIntyre, Republican candidate for Indiana’s 8th Congressional District seat, said Tuesday that a recount put him 415 votes ahead of his Democratic opponent, incumbent Frank McCloskey.
“The ballots have been recounted and the results show conclusively that I am the winner,” McIntyre told a news conference. “It is only fair that I be seated immediately and allowed to represent the people who elected me.”
The Democratic-controlled House voted earlier this month to declare the seat open and to refer the disputed election to the House Administration Committee.
