Council Schedules Hearing on Downtown Office High-Rise
The Glendale City Council and Redevelopment Agency have scheduled a joint public hearing for Feb. 12 on a proposal to build an eight-story office building at 520 N. Central Ave.
Susan Shick, deputy executive redevelopment director, said developers Donald Platz and Greg Galletly have acquired five of the six lots at the proposed site and may require city assistance in negotiating the purchase of the final lot, which is vacant.
The redevelopment project would replace several old and dilapidated houses and a duplex in an area of commercial buildings. The site stretches from Central Avenue to Orange Street in the middle of a block between Milford and Doran streets.
Developers said the office building would have retail stores on the ground floor on Central Avenue and a 360-car parking structure on Orange Street.
