Leaks of liquified butane gas and petroleum kept firefighters busy in two seperate incidents in the South Bay, but no one was injured in either incident. In Carson, nearly 600 gallons of liquefied butane gas escaped from a storage tank at an Atlantic Richfield Co. oil refinery. The leak created a highly flammable cloud that closed a 1-1/2 mile stretch of Wilmington Avenue for two hours. Meanwhile, Torrance firefighters closed Madrona Avenue between Del Amo and 190th streets for eight hours after a railroad car leaked a liquefied petroleum substance.
