Two bodyguards of rock star Prince have been charged with misdemeanor battery in the alleged interference with two men who were photographing their employer as he emerged from a West Hollywood restaurant early Tuesday. Lawrence Gibson, 26, of San Francisco was also accused of petty theft for allegedly using force to remove film from one of the men’s cameras. Wallace Anthony Safford, 25, of Detroit was accused of chasing a second photographer and punching him in the face. During the scuffle, Prince went back into the restaurant. Safford and Gibson were arrested by sheriff’s deputies and released on bail. They are scheduled to be arraigned March 1 in Beverly Hills Municipal Court.
